2014 HKPGA Order of Merit

Open Division - James Wong Won the Second Leg

 

The temperature reaches over 30 degree at just the beginning of the long hot summer.  It was surely a

test of playing ability and endurance for the players of the 2nd leg 2014 Order of Merit of HKPGA.  Over 55 players joined the two round of competition held on 28 and 29 of May 2014 at the Hong Kong Golf Club.

It was a well-known fact that though the course of Hong Kong Golf Club was not particularly long, the long grass and the green were the toughest for players.  Despite the burning sun and the difficulties of the course, players played indeed pretty well in the two rounds.  Chris Tang led the field with a 70 in the first round.  Over 10 players were within 1 to 5 strokes after him.

The second round started early on the next day.  The competition continued to be very keen.  James Wong, who got a 72 in the first round, finished the second round with a 70 and won the 2nd leg with a total of 142 strokes.  Tim Tang, with a 73 and 72 in two rounds respectively, got the second place at 145 strokes.  Nathan Goulding, with a 71 and 76, a total of 147 in two rounds, got the third place.  Unfortunate for Chris Tang that he only got a 78 in the second round, finished the two rounds with a total of 148 strokes, placed the fourth. 

For Ladies Division, Vicki Ho was the winner, Jannet Sheng and Melody Chan placed second and third respectively.
