Project Skyhigh Christmas BBQ & End of Year Dinner

Time flies! It has been over four years since the inception of the Project Skyhigh.  HKPGA has all along been a staunch supporter to the Project.  In 2013, HKPGA agreed to include the Project as part of its youth golf training programme.

Since the Project targeted at youth coming from less advantage background in the community, the continuity of the Project depends on a group of devoted coaches who offered their energy and time to train the youth on voluntary basis.  The Project also owes much to Mr Yau Chi-ming, Honorary President of HKPGA who greatly supports the Project, among others, solicits financial support for the Project.

The Project has all along advocated not only teach the youth playing golf, it hopes through the game of golf, youth learn to be a righteous individual.  Hence, from time to time, the coaches would organize activities for the youth like in the recent X’mas and towards the end of the year of Snake, BBQ and end of year dinner were held for the youth.  Mr Yau joined both occasions and shared his life experiences with the youth in a relaxing atmosphere.  He was also so kind to give X’mas gifts to the youth to celebrate the festive season!

Report on of Professional guidance of technical posture activity in Clearwater Bay Golf & Country Club - 17 August 2012

Professional guidance of technical posture activity in Clearwater Bay Golf & Country Club was successfully held on August 1 and 2, 2012. The students of the “Project Skyhigh Youth Life Education Through the Game of Golf” were instructed by three professional coaches including: Kingsley Long, Grant Gibson and Eric Lee of the Clear Water Bay Golf & Country Club. Students have great progress in terms of swing shape, or skills under the instructions of these coaches.

Students were divided into three groups in the 2 days guidance. Each coach led a group with three to four students. Day one was the short game training, including chipping, bunker shot, pitching and putting. Through the careful guidance of coaches, students learnt a lot of short game skills, such as increase the angle of the clubface when playing greenside bunker shot and chip play high and short ball to the green. The second day of training was all about swing, coaches advised for each participant by recording their swing and then analyzed which part need to improve. Also each participant was instructed by taylor-made methods by facing the mirror and improved the up-swing posture.

Undoubtedly, all trainees tried their best to learn and improve, but we all understand that the ugly duckling is not transformed into a swan in one day, so we will strengthen more on our practice in the future. Finally, we are very grateful to the management of the “Project Skyhigh Youth Life Education Through the Game of Golf” to arrange such a special training for us, we also like to thank the coaches of the Clearwater Bay Golf and Country Club to spend their time to guide us.
